SHOPPERS in Ribble Valley are being advised Clitheroe Market will be closed on Tuesday, June 5th.

Tuesday is usually market day in Clitheroe, but traders are having a day off to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. It will be business as usual at the market from Thursday, June 7th.

Clitheroe has hosted a regular market since the Norman Conquest in the 12th Century. On market days: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, a variety of stalls sell fruit and vegetables, bread and cakes, fish and meat, clothing and lingerie, pottery and craft items, curtains and fabrics, rugs and household textiles, flowers and electrical goods.

The market also hosts a flea market on Fridays, where 31 stalls are available to Ribble Valley residents from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on a pre-booked basis for just £5. Residents are asked not to turn up without booking and will be asked on the day for proof of address, such as a driving licence or utility bill.

For more details or to book a stall, contact Ribble Valley Borough Council on 01200 425111.
