The development of Holmes Mill continues at a pace, with last weekend seeing the opening of the bakery and café.
Now, with the food hall phase firmly set in their sights, and an estimated opening date of May 2017, James’ Places owner James Warburton explained the ethos behind the what will be on offer:
“The Bowland Food Hall will be a cross between a farm shop, a super-sized deli and a contemporary food hall featuring the best and the freshest produce from people who really care about what they make, how they make it and of course, where they make it.”
“We want to source, stock and sell the very best milks, yoghurts and cheeses from the valley’s dairy farms and manufacturers and we want to showcase the very best meats from Bowland’s beef, lamb and pork farmers. We also want to talk to poultry and game producers, not to mention all types of egg suppliers. It’s not just farmers we are calling out for, we want to meet manufacturers and suppliers of the very best cured meats, sausages, pates and terrines, bakers of breads, quiches and cakes, fruit pickers and jam makers, biscuit-makers, fudge-makers, chocolatiers, bee-keepers and honey harvesters. If you’re passionate about what you do and proud of what you make, we want to meet you.”
The Bowland team insist they are not averse to stocking produce from further away and have extended their search accordingly. For example, fish and seafood will have to come from further afield due to geographical logistics.
James concluded: “Although we want to showcase Bowland and the Ribble Valley, we aren’t going to be blinkered and parochial.
“We know that we will have to extend our search area to get the best produce. To put it in a nutshell, our guiding principle will be The Bowland Food Hall – The best of Bowland and the best of beyond.
