The December meeting of Le Cercle Français de Ribblesdale welcomed “Les Trois Jacasseurs” (The Three Chatterboxes!) to Whalley Abbey for an evening of music, poetry, prose and other amusing items.
Members Mike Lennon and Mike Taylor, who met up on a French Language course at UCLAN, were joined by professional musician Ben Hughes as they performed songs in French, some of which they had composed and others which they had translated.
It was the first time the trio had performed together live and members and visitors alike were enthralled and delighted by the variety of pieces on offer, all delivered with great skill and a sense of fun.
During the interval mulled wine and canapés were served to mark the festive season.
Noreen Lobo, Présidente, expressed admiration and thanks to the performers for what everyone agreed was a stunning evening.
The next meeting of the Le Cercle Français will be on January 13th at 7-30 pm at The Great Hall, Whalley Abbey, when Lory Barreau will present “Surprenante Bretagne”. All are welcome whatever level of French. See the website for further details: www.cerclefribblesdale.co.uk
