Ribble Valley-based charity Child Action Northwest is looking for new Trustees to join its successful team.

Based at the former Blackburn Orphanage in Wilpshire, Child Action Northwest (CANW) is now one of the leading voluntary sector providers of services for children, young people, families and communities across the North West of England, with an annual turnover of just under £4.5m. The charity delivers a range of innovative and responsive services including foster care and supported lodgings, family support, youth justice services and youth and community services.

Now CANW is looking to recruit new members to its Board of Trustees who can help the charity achieve its vision of “inspiring lives and changing futures”. Trustees will have responsibility to help determine the strategy of the charity and ensure it is effectively managed and continues to develop within its charitable aims.

New Trustees with skills and or experience in any of the following areas would be especially welcomed:

l Building maintenance, architecture or surveying

l Business and/or professional management

l Community involvement and development

l Finance

l Health and Social Care.

The charity is particularly keen to achieve a more diverse Board of Trustees and would welcome applications from all sections of the community.

The main monthly meeting of the Trustee board takes place in the evening on the second Monday of the month at the main office in Wilpshire. This is a voluntary position but out-of-pocket expenses are available.

For an informal discussion please contact Sue Cotton, Chief Executive Officer, at Child Action Northwest, Whalley Road, Wilpshire, Blackburn, Lancashire, BB1 9LL. Tel: 01254 244700. Email:
