A presentation about the work of the food bank in the community where they live prompted big hearted youngsters to start donating to the cause immediately.
And in just two months students at St Michael and St Joseph’s RC Primary School collected 67kgs of of items for the Clitheroe Food Bank.
The collection, spearheaded by Mrs Karen Clarkson, was part of the school’s Year of Mercy celebrations which is aimed at helping the community.
As part of the “Corporal Acts of Mercy” the children began to think about donating food that would help the hungry.
And when Ruth Haldane, manager of the Clitheroe Food Bank, gave an assembly at the school, the children hit on their target.
