Members of 38 Degrees took to the streets of the Ribble Valley recently as part of a national day of action in support of the NHS.

The group met at Whalley Library before collecting signatures in Whalley and Clitheroe.

Across the UK signatures were added to a national petition asking all potential candidates for the forthcoming General Election to protect the NHS against privatisation.

Meeting afterwards to discuss the impact of the day the group were moved by the many stories and recollections which members of the public had shared about their contact with the NHS and the widely held belief that it really is an essential lifesaving service.

Many concerns had been expressed about potential changes to an insurance-based health service as in the USA.

All are welcome at the next meeting of the local 38 Degrees group taking place on Tuesday March 17th at 6-45 pm in the Judge Walmsley Hotel at Billington.
