local chefs are being given the chance to impress a panel of professionals and an audience of “foodies” with their knowledge and passion for local, seasonal produce.
Organised by The Forest of Bowland AONB, the aim of this competition is to create what you believe to be one of Bowland’s “Distinctive Dishes”, having sourced your ingredients locally as possible. The finalists will go head to head at a culinary contest at The Grand, Clitheroe, as part of the town’s food festival in August.
The competition is free to enter and has three categories; professional (age 18-25), professional (age 26+) and non-professional (including tearooms and B&Bs). All applicants must operate in a business within the Forest of Bowland AONB.
The application process is quick and easy and involves completing a short online form providing a brief overview of your Bowland Distinctive Dish and the local produce you will use.
Three finalists in each category will be chosen by a panel of experts. A winner from each category will then be chosen by the audience at the live contest to be held as part of Clitheroe Food Festival.
Local food service company, Total Foodservice, are supporting the event through sponsorship and the provision of some of the ingredients for the live final on the day.

We are based in Clitheroe and work with many local food businesses and love the concept of finding a modern day quintessential Bowland Dish to help support local business, local produce and create a flagship dish ultimately, we hope, positively impacting on tourism for the area.”
