A FAMILY-RUN jewellers in Whalley has featured in the industry’s latest prestigious “Hot 100”.

The third Hot 100 book, compiled by Professional Jeweller magazine in association with The Company of Master Jewellers, was unveiled at a sparkling event at the Freemasons’ Hall in Covent Garden, London.

Professional Jeweller’s Hot 100 is selected by its editorial team from across the UK jewellery industry, the list kept entirely secret until it is revealed at a Hot 100 party with a commemorative book created profiling each Hot 100 star.

Featured in the Retail Stars section of this year’s book is Sarah Layton jewellers, of King Street, Whalley, described by the magazine as a store where “the girls rule”.

The business is run by Gill Layton-Hill, working alongside her daughters Leanne and Lauren, who both gained valuable experience working for other leading jewellers before returning to the family fold.

Profiling the business in its Hot 100 book, Prefessional Jeweller reports: “Today the Sarah Layton store – which runs under the tagline ‘Jewellery to Inspire’ – is three times its original size, allowing it to stock even more brands, such as Carat and Nomination, and to open a Georg Jensen shop-in-shop.”

Gill is also quoted in the book, saying: “It’s nice wehn custommers now tell us we are on their list of reasons why they come to Whalley. The villagers have made us feel very welcome and often call in just to compliment us on our shop, as well as to buy.”
