LOCAL schools and clubs are to receive new equipment following more success for the Tesco for Schools and Clubs Scheme.
Ribble Valley MP Nigel Evans and representatives from four local schools taking part visited Clitheroe’s Duck Street store to celebrate the nationwide scheme, now in its 20th year.
The programme enables schools that have signed up to the programme to redeem vouchers from Tesco purchases against a range of products and equipment, from iMacs and drum kits to garden tools and tennis rackets.
Shoppers were all offered the vouchers when paying for their shopping over a 10-week period, which they then donate to a school or club of their choice. The schools and clubs were then able to choose what equipment they wanted to benefit and educate the children involved.
Clitheroe store manager David Pollitt said: “Tesco for Schools and Clubs is a scheme which my team here are proud to be a part of. Thousands of customers have been collecting the vouchers to help their chosen venue get the equipment they need. It shows what great results can be achieved when the whole community gets involved.”
