Sabden pub The White Hart has been announced as a finalist in the Best Newcomer category in this year’s Thwaites Awards for Excellence.

The White Hart, which is owned by the award-winning brewer, has been run by Barbara and Vaughn Gordon since April 2012 and re-opened in May 2012 after a major refurbishment. Currently trading 74% up on the previous year, this nomination recognises the pub’s success over the past 12 months.

Commenting on the nomination, Barbara said: “We’re thrilled to be shortlisted in the awards and it is recognition of the team’s continued hard work and commitment to delivering a great experience for our customers.

“We’re keeping our fingers crossed that we’ll triumph at the awards and bring back the top accolade.”

Andrew Buchannan, director of pub operations at Thwaites, said: “Barbara and Vaughn have done a fantastic job at The White Hart and so it’s no surprise that they are an awards finalist.”

Now in its third year the Awards for Excellence celebrates industry success and innovation across Thwaites’ pub estate. The seven categories – including Best Newcomer, Best Pub Dining, Best Pub Fare, Best Newcomer Experience and Best Pint – are designed to recognise tenants who have gone the extra mile and demonstrated excellent service.
