RIBBLE VALLEY MP Nigel Evans has written to the Rt Hon George Osborne MP, Chancellor of the Exchequer, asking him to reassess the decision to increase fuel duty by 3p in August.

Speaking from Westminster, Mr Evans said: “Cars are a part of day-to-day life for many people. For many of my constituents they are also an absolute necessity. That is why I have written to the Chancellor to ask him to think again about this expected 3p rise in fuel duty in August.

“Recent research has suggested that a decrease in fuel duty will actually boost the economy. I implore the Chancellor to take this measure and alleviate some pressure from families up and down the country, in rural and urban areas, who simply have no choice but to run a car.”
