The Ribble Valley Business Awards 2014 will soon be officially launched after 18 local organisations came forward to sponsor this enterprising idea.

This new competition will celebrate the people and enterprises that help to make the Ribble Valley such a great place to live, work and visit.

The Ribble Valley Business Awards are being organised by the volunteer business mentor team at Enterprising People in Ribble Valley, a free one-to-one mentoring service for local people and organisations with innovative ideas which they want to make happen.

The organisers believe “The RVs” will become an annual and important part of the local business calendar.

Rupert Swarbrick, a member of the organising team, said: “We are very excited to get this awards venture off the ground and have been overwhelmed by the enthusiasm we have encountered from all the organisations and businesses that have come forward to lend financial and practical support by acting as sponsors. Without them we would literally not be able to make this initiative happen and we are hugely grateful to each and every one.”

A dedicated website will be launched in early July for the public to make award nominations.

Nominated firms will then be contacted by the organisers and invited to enter their firm for one or more of the 14 individual awards categories.

Every organisation nominated for an award will also be automatically considered for the overall event accolade, the Superfast Lancashire Award, which will be won by the most inspiring business.

Nominations will close in August, with shortlisted entries to be advised in September and the winners to be announced at an awards ceremony on Thursday, October 9th, at Bashall Barn, Waddington. The awards ceremony will be sponsored by Live Ribble Valley, the Bowker Group, First Class Child Care and Bashall Barn.
