Ribble Valley MP Nigel Evans tabled an Early Day Motion in Parliament recognising the important contribution of tourism to the economy and to the Ribble Valley, coinciding with English Tourism Week, which runs from March 14th to 22nd.

In the text of the motion Mr Evans proposed that Parliament note “that local businesses such as the Whalley Wine Shop, Mytton Fold Hotel, Huntley’s, D. Byrne & Co. and Cowman’s Famous Sausage Shop encourage visitors to come to Lancashire and provide vital employment for local people”.

Speaking from Westminster Mr Evans said: “It is right and proper for Parliament to recognise the important contribution that tourism makes to the country, and particularly to the Ribble Valley.

“We have some fantastic businesses catering to that sector and English Tourism Week is an excellent opportunity to congratulate them for their work.”
