A total of 2,148 sheep was the largest-ever entry of sheep with lambs at foot at Gisburn Auction Marts Anniversary show.
Anthony Thompson, Foulridge, dominated the ewes with lambs at foot section, when he sold the first part of this year’s annual consignment.
A packed ringside saw him have an outstanding trade his Beltex Texel shearlings with twin Beltex lambs at foot sold for £300 a family, while Mr Thompson’s Beltex shearlings with single lambs at foot sold to £290 a family, with numerous other pens from the same vendor selling from £240 to £280 a family. Taking them home were mainly East Yorkshire prime lamb producers.

Father and son team, Raymond and Robert Johnson, Felliscliffe, Harrogate, dominated the Mule hoggs, selling to £258 with plenty of demand for other lots in the £200-£225 price bracket.
