IT’S food to the fore in Chatburn this weekend as Shackleton’s Home and Garden Centre hosts a Food Market on Sunday (September 16th).
Visitors will be able to sample foods from a number of local suppliers and see a cooking demonstration by the resident chef of The Coniston Hotel.
David Shackleton said: “Chris, the Chef from The Coniston Hotel, near Skipton, will be at the Garden Centre to demonstrate their locally renowned dishes, some of which use produce from their estate – dishes such as devilled kidneys and pheasant burgers.
“There will be three cooking demonstrations taking place on the day – at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. – in the Somax kitchen display area of the Garden Centre.”
Cottage Delight Speciality Foods will have samples of their jams, chutneys and gourmet foods to try and Rimington-based Gazegill Organics will have a selection of their meats available for purchase and will also be bringing their piglets along to the Garden Centre for people to meet.
Chipping-based Leagram Organic Dairy will be showing and selling their cheeses, including their Lancashire cheeses with a unique twist. Lancaster Brewery will also provide samples of their beers and have products available to buy.
David Shackleton added: “The food market is our unique celebration of local foods, makers and suppliers. We’re really looking forward to the event.”
Also on the day, Clitheroe Royal Grammar School Swing Band will perform a selection of swing numbers, rock’n’roll and film theme music between 1 and 4 p.m.
