Clitheroe will once again be transformed into a delicious treasure trove of Lancashire’s finest produce as the town plays host to its third food festival next month.
As well as almost 100 well-known Ribble Valley and Lancashire quality exhibitors, the event, which is to take place on Saturday, August 10th, between 9-30 am and 5 pm, will see highly reputable artisan producers and butchers cook delicious morsels of their fantastic products for visitors to savour and enjoy.
Last year’s event was a massive success with 17000 people flooding into Clitheroe – and this year’s one-day extravaganza promises to be bigger and better.
Visitors will see flavours go international with the addition of many new food vendors cooking on the town’s streets, all using proven Lancashire core ingredients to make tastebuds tinglers for everyone.
American, Chinese, Italian, Thai, Spanish and Mexican are among the few delicious cuisines which will be on offer, as well as the traditional Lancashire hotpot, meat pies and award-winning sausages.
In addition, the festival team is also thrilled to announce that the Manchester store of luxury retailer Harvey Nichols has offered to judge this year’s competition, Clitheroe’s best independent retail window display, which has been sponsored by John Houldsworth solicitors.
The first prize is £400 and the winning trader will get the opportunity to spend a day behind the scenes at the Harvey Nichols store.
Festival organiser Julie Whalley said: “For the past two years we have pulled in significant crowds. The benefits of a large event like this shows off our town’s retail, eating and other business offers and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone again.
“There will be lots to do and see on the day, including several competitions with all manner of superb gourmet prizes to be won, including a plethora of delicious goody hampers from all over the country.”
