Business is booming for Mr Mark Woodward and his Clitheroe firm, the Printed Cup Company,
The firm, based at Up Brooks, off Lincoln Way, has grown from two members of staff in 2011 to a 14-strong team, with three printers and seven machines producing cups printed with the names and artwork of client firms.
But Mr Woodward, who started the business at his home after being made redundant, has not finished yet. He is predicting an increase in orders from 100 to 500 per month over the next five years and increased exports.
Mr Woodward said: “People are looking for alternatives to plastic and paper cups are an eco-friendly, recyclable solution.
“Because we can print them with a company logo or image, they are also becoming an increasingly popular and cost effective way to brand an event or business.
“The machinery we have invested in for the business means that we can now deliver a minimum order of 1,000 cups within 72 hours and we have been able to compete for a lot more new business as a result.
“We plan to double both the workforce and the machine capacity to manage the increase in orders, taking us from 100 to 500 orders a month within five years.”
Mr Woodward praised the Manufacturing Advisory Service (www.mymas.org) which has helped him from the start.
He said: “This was my first experience as a manufacturer, and the practical level of support that MAS gave us was fundamental in making sure we got the basics right, knew who to talk to in the industry and where to make new business connections.”
