Girls from Clitheroe St Mary’s Brownies have said a fond farewell to an inspirational leader who has retired after helping to inspire hundreds of girls.
Carol Dinsdale, a volunteer with Girlguiding for more than 20 years, is passing on the Leader role to her former Assistant Leader, Trina Bosworth-Lomax, who will continue to deliver the girl-led programme.

The Brownies, aged seven to 10, are now on the look-out for more new volunteers to share in the fun, friendship and adventure of guiding as an Assistant Leader.
Leaders from Clitheroe and District celebrated Carol’s retirement and her achievements, which included a tenure as Clitheroe and Bowland District Commissioner, at their Christmas meal at Girlguiding’s Waddow Hall Training and Activity Centre.
Carol was presented with a special edition Girlguiding wine glass and a memory wall filled with photographs and good wishes.
Carol will be missed by her Brownies, as their comments prove.
Brownie Eve said: “She is the best Brown Owl I have ever had. We have had such good times doing badges and going away on PGL and she always stays jolly even when we don’t exactly do as we are told!”
Brownie Rose said: “Brown Owl has a great sense of humour and the best laugh.
“She is very creative and we enjoyed doing loads of craft with her.”
Brownie Isabella wrote a special message for her Brown Owl: “Dear Carol, All the memories I have of being in Brownies are fond memories but they wouldn’t have been half as nice without you!
“Thank you for the fun times, lots of love Isabella xxx!”
