Firefighters were called to a Simonstone engineering works today (Thursday) following a fire involving a lathe.
The blaze at the Simonstone Lane based engineering works started at around 6 am this morning.
Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet and dry powder plus carbon dioxide fire extinguishers to put the fire out, checking for any unseen hot-spots remaining using a thermal imaging camera.
They also set up portable fan units to extract the smoke and heat.
No one was hurt in the fire.
