intrepid young bear hunters who scoured Clitheroe in search of their furry friends have been rewarded at a special presentation.

The winners of prizes in the recent “Where’s the Bear?” competition organised by Crodssroads Care Ribble Valley gathered at the charity’s to receive their prizes. In all nine prizes were awarded across three age categories.

The competition was to raise awareness of National Carers’ Week and the needs of carers – many of whom are children. The great success of the competition – in which the children had to track down bears hiding in shop window displays – was due mainly to the magnificent support of local shopkeepers, many of whom gave prizes and donations to cover costs. Thanks also go to The Gift Pack Company Ltd, which donated the 50 bears used; some of these bears were prizes and the rest will be auctioned or sold at future fund-raising events.

In total Carers Week raised more than £3,000 throughout the borough.
