Arson probe after caravan fire

An investigation is under way after a caravan was set on fire in Nelson, which spread to two nearby boats.

The incident happened yesterday (Sunday) just before 5pm in Southfield Street. Crews believe the fire was started "deliberately" and a joint investigation with the police has been launched.

A spokesman for Lancashire Fire and Rescue said: "Two fire engines and crews from Colne and Burnley responded to a 999 call reporting a caravan on fire.

"The fire had spread to two boats also and firefighters used two hosereels and one main jet to extinguish it. The fire is believed to have been started deliberately. Police were notified. "There were no casualties."
