A motorcyclist escaped serious injury after being involved in a collision in Bashall Eaves.

Gareth Chamberlain (27), was riding his 125cc motorbike on his way home from work in Clitheroe Road when he was in collision with a vehicle. He believes the car involved was a red Astra.

The incident happened at 6pm on Friday. Emergency services were contacted by a Good Samaritan and Gareth was taken to Burnley General Hospital.

Gareth, who lives in Burnley, said: "I was approaching a turn in Clitheroe Road, Bashall Eaves and a red Astra which was driven by a male from what I believe was doing a speed of at least 50 mph on my side of the road. I cannot remember if I collided with the red Astra or not, but the car made off. I was left on the floor for around 15 minutes before a car came and stopped to my aid. They called the ambulance. I was on the floor shaking, cold and in shock.

"I have injured my knee muscles and ligaments thankfully not broken but if I had not reacted fast enough I could quite easily have lost my life. I would also like to thank the people who helped me and called the emergency services."

"I'm appealing for anyone with information or if you have CCTV or dash cams in the area of that time and date to come forward."
