The Ribble Valley is home to some extraordinary artistic talent, much of which is showcased in Clitheroe’s many galleries.

These galleries are home to a dazzling variety of photography, prints, paintings and more – much of which is available to purchase and all of which is free to admire.

Clitheroe Artwalk highlights seven of Clitheroe’s galleries, allowing visitors to start their journey anywhere along the route and take in the cultural sights of the town.

There are guided Sunday Artwalks on May 14th and September 24th, when the galleries will be open from 11am to 4pm, holding special events and giving you a chance to meet some of the artists and creators involved in Clitheroe’s artistic scene.

Alternatively, this walk can be undertaken by yourself at any time, but please check the galleries’ individual websites for opening times to avoid disappointment.

Parking is free in many car parks across town. Many of the galleries are also dog-friendly so there’s no need to leave Fido at home. With a great selection of cafés, pubs and restaurants along the route, why not make a day of it?

All you need is a pair of comfortable shoes and a healthy appetite for art! The walk is mainly along pavements, but there is a steeper section up to the castle and through the castle grounds on well-surfaced footpaths.

The galleries featured are Knowle Top Studios, Longitude Gallery, Platform Gallery, Ribble Valley Art Studios, The Keep, The Old Bakehouse Gallery and the Steward’s Gallery.
