Concerned dog owners will hand over a petition to council officials against proposals which could force them to keep their dogs on leads at all times.
A consultation into tighter controls on dogs in public has been launched by Ribble Valley Borough Council under a proposed public space protection order.
A spokesman said: “We are concerned the proposed order is too restrictive and would have a detrimental impact on dog owners, dogs and the wider community if given the go-ahead. We believe that there are more effective measures the council could use to tackle issues caused by antisocial dog owners. To date there are over 1,000 signatories online and paper.
“Everyone is invited to meet at the Castle Gates on Moor Lane, in Clitheroe, to walk to the Ribble Valley Borough Council offices to present the petition ‘Let Leia Run’ at 10am on Wednesday, August 30th.
Anyone wishing to add their name to the petition can do so by logging onto https://you.38degrees.org.uk/p/let-leia-run (or just google Let Leia Run)
The council's consultation on the issue ends at 5pm on September 1st.
