gardening enthusiasts should head to Bolton-by-Bowland this weekend for its popular “Through Country Garden Gates” event.

Held every other year, this open gardens weekend includes more than 20 of the area’s best-kept country havens and has attracted thousands of visitors in previous years.

It takes place on Saturday and Sunday (July 7th and 8th) from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. On the Sunday evening there is also a Floral Songs of Praise in Bolton-by-Bowland Church, beginning at 6-30 p.m. and led by Slaidburn Silver Band.

Visitors to “Through Country Garden Gates” are invited to drive through the heart of the beautiful Ribble Valley and look around participating gardens in the neighbouring villages of Bolton-by-Bowland, Grindleton and Sawley. Both village churches will be open to view special displays and refreshments will be served at several locations along the route. There will also be some plant stalls selling some of the types of plants and flowers which flourish in the area.

Buying the special map booklet, priced at £6 per adult, which allows entry into the gardens on both days. These booklets will be available on both day from either church or participating gardens. All proceeds from the weekend go towards the upkeep of the two Parish Churches.
