Horror as ducks killed in Valley beauty spot
A cafe owner has made an emotional plea to motorists to 'slow down' after three ducks were killed on a village beauty spot.
Glenda Gill, who runs Puddleducks Tea Room, in Dunsop Bridge, with her husband Tony Bradshaw, said she was left “distraught” when the ducks were struck by a “speeding driver” while outside the cafe.
The traditional tearooms are based in the Forest of Bowland in Dunsop Bridge, also known as the heart of Great Britain. The place is renowned for its resident ducks and grassy banks.
Glenda said due to the bad weather last Wednesday, she witnessed lots of motorists driving through the village. She explained: “Four ducks were struck - three killed and one injured. It was heartbreaking and very upsetting. This is a picturesque village and most people are aware that ducks are out on the road outside our tearooms. Lots of visitors come from far and wide and feed the ducks and from time to time officials from RSPB come out and speak to us about the ducks. Motorists really need to slow down when travelling through Dunsop Bridge.”
