Hide AdA spokesman for Ribble Valey Police said that without the invaluable help of a local farmer in locating the walker he' very much doubts' they would have found her saying: "The area is beautiful, but wild without reference points, especially in the dark.
"A local farmer, Mr Gill, who has exceptional local knowledge, assisted with gaining access and then gave up around three hours of his valuable time transporting members of the emergency services around the hill before he and a local police officer located the lost walker.
"He should be very proud of himself. On behalf of everyone at Ribble Valley Police, Mr Gill, thankyou."
Police and countryside officials have appealed for people to keep away from Pendle Hill and other popular beauty spots after hordes of folk headed out this week. This was despite the fact Prime Minister Boris Johnson warned them to stay indoors to try and stop the spread of the coronavirus.
A sign announcing that Pendle Hill is closed has even been placed at the foot the iconic landmark.
