Teddies ensure a heartwarming welcome for Clitheroe pupils returning to school
There were bear hugs waiting for youngsters who returned to St James' Primary School after lockdown ended.
To bring a huge smile to the faces of children returning to school after months of home schooling, kind Friends of St James' thought of a cute idea to gift 309 children at the school with their very own teddy bear.
And the surprise cuddly friends have proved a huge hit with the children, teachers and parents alike!
Headteacher of the school based in Greenacre Street, Mrs Fiona Pattison, said: "It was an absolutely wonderful idea and each and every child loved their teddy bear. We lined the teddies, which were dressed in the same colour as the school jumper, in the school hall. It certainly proved a happy welcome return for the children.
"Here, at St James' we always emphasize the importance of family. We are stronger together as a school family."
Amy Steventon, a member of Friends of St James', added: "Seeing the children's faces come out of school beaming, proudly clutching their bears was a heartwarming sight.
"Parents have said what a positive gesture it was and a lovely keepsake to remember this tough time."
