Students from St Michael and St John's RC Primary School in Clitheroe celebrate receiving a gold award for good behaviour which puts them in the top 30 schools in Lancashire

St Michael and St John’s RC Primary is one of only 30 schools out of 480 in Lancashire to be awarded a prestigious gold award for good behaviour. Assessors from Lancashire Behaviour Quality Mark spent time observing children in assembly, the classroom, at playtime and lunch break and they also spoke to groups and individuals. School policies, procedures and systems were also put under the microscope.

Behaviour and attendance consultant Mrs Lorimer Russell-Hayes commended the pupils on their excellent standards of behaviour and how well they look after each other. She also praised the staff for being dedicated and hard working and said the children were fortunate to have them. Mrs Russell-Hayes said: “This award is a major achievement. Not many in Lancashire have received this accolade and it is great to see best practice on show at the school.”

The school in Lowergate was rated good by Ofsted and outstanding in a religious inspection in March this year.
