The new agreement will see MDS expand factory-to-warehouse shunting, outbound distribution of finished goods and collection of stillages, using the logistics group’s outbases in Glasgow, Biggleswade and Avonmouth. Established in 1983, Ultraframe is based in Clitheroe Lancashire, where Menzies has 31 employees onsite. A Euro 6 compliant fleet of around 60 trucks, trailers and other assets will work on the contract.

Ultraframe’s Head of Supply Chain, Gerald Ferguson, said: “Our working relationship with MDS is now in its 16th year. Our companies are growing together in partnership and the service we receive consistently exceeds performance targets. This is, ultimately, a great result for our customers. Ultraframe has ambitious plans and we’ve invested heavily in our business against a background of strong prospects for the home improvement sector. We’re very pleased to have MDS alongside on the next phase of our growth journey.”

Ultraframe and the former Bibby Distribution first started working together in 2005. The logistics company has supported Ultraframe through steady growth which has seen it supply roofs for more than half a million conservatories in the past ten years. MDS achieved delivery performance of 99.2% for Ultraframe in 2020, against a target of 98.5%.

MDS’s Business Unit Director for Full Load Transport, Mark Davies, said: “We’re delighted that continuous improvement in our service has delivered a significant contract extension with a valued partner. This new agreement will be supported by further investment from MDS in its fleet for Ultraframe and we look forward in helping the company to further success in a very exciting market.”
