Preaching Manic mania

THE Manic Street Preachers are embarking on their most extensive UK ever.

Tenth studio album “Postcards From A Young Man” came out in September to rave reviews and the welsh favourites will be down the road at King George’s Hall, Blackburn, showcasing their new material on Saturday, October 9th.

Coming just a year after the cathartic “Journal for Plague Lovers” the album sees them return to the classic rock roots of “Send Away The Tigers” and the arena sized choruses of “Everything Must Go”.

Formed back in 1986, originally as a quartet with lyricist and rhythm guitarist Richey Edwards, the Manics comprise James Dean Bradfield (vocals, guitars), Nicky Wire (bass, occasional vocals) and Sean Moore (drums, backing vocals, occasional trumpet).

After releasing their first album “Generation Terrorists” in 1992 the band hit their commercial peak in the mid to late 1990s moving to forefront of the British music scene.

Over the years the Manics have had eight top 10 albums and 15 top 10 singles.

They have reached number one three times, with their much lauded 1998 album “This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours” and the singles “If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next” and “The Masses Against The Classes”.
