Dora is setfor festiveswitch-on

BURNLEY’s big Christmas light switch on extravaganza is set to take place on November 21st.

Children’s TV sensation Dora the Explorer will be on hand to flick the switch and kickstart Christmas festivities in the town.

Thousands of people packed into the town centre to see last year’s celebrations and bumper crowds are expected to mark the official start of Christmas 2010 in Burnley.

A stageshow of entertainment from the likes of It’s My Party, Shell’s Belles, singer Sally Jaxx and the winner of Benedictine’s “Beneoke” will kick off at 3-20 p.m. on the day.

Then in the grand finale cartoon superstar Dora will turn on the town’s Christmas lights which will be followed by a fireworks display at 4-30 p.m.

Children can meet Dora in person as she appears throughout the day at noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. before she takes to the stage in the build up to the big switch on.
