BOOK REVIEW: Touching Distance, by James Cracknell

ROWER James Cracknell looked invincible when he bagged two Olympic gold medals. But a freak accident left him vulnerable and unable to cope with daily life.

Touching Distance is a powerful book which takes you on the journey of a man who had once known no limits and was left unable to complete the easiest of tasks.

Life seemed a breeze for James, happily married to writer and broadcaster Beverley Turner and father of three young children. But a year after being knocked off his bike by the wing mirror of a tanker in Arizona, James suffered a seizure at home infront of his son.

And life then became a roller coaster. The book takes the reader on the ride and its really gripping and entertaining. And it allows us lesser mortals to delve into the mind and life of a sporting genius.
