A selection of Adrienne Seed's paintings and sculptures will be on display from this Saturday until Sunday, June 24th, in the Steward's Gallery.

The exhibition, entitled "Castles in the Air", will feature Adrienne's winning artwork "Magic Lantern", in oil and acrylic on canvas.

The Blackburn artist usually paints landscapes and characters in strong, vibrant colours, in a surrealist or dreamscape style. Adrienne's artwork has been exhibited in galleries in England, America and Europe, as well as having sculptures and paintings featured in major private collections.

The annual Ribble Valley Open exhibition is an opportunity for local amateur and professional artists to submit work on a given theme. The artist awarded the Selectors' Choice is given the chance to showcase their work in a solo exhibition.

County Coun. Peter Buckley, Lancashire County Council's cabinet member for community and cultural services, said: "I'm sure visitors will be impressed by the high quality of Adrienne's work.

"Adrienne was such a worthy winner of the Selectors' Choice. It is great to be able to exhibit the work of such a talented artist.

"Our annual Open Art exhibition really does give local artists a chance to show their skill and creativity."

Adrienne added: "I love to paint scenes in vivid colours to reflect on my travels, and my life. My work also depicts my lifelong journey as an artist in the pursuit of the creation of my visionary and unattainable daydreams.

"This is the first time that I have entered this exhibition and it is great to have won the Selectors' Choice. I was so pleased to win it and I'm thrilled to have this opportunity of a solo exhibition showcasing both my paintings and sculptures."

This year's Ribble Valley Open exhibition starts on Saturday, July 28th. The Steward's Gallery is open daily from 11am to 4pm. Admission to the exhibition within the Steward's Gallery part of Clitheroe Castle is free.
