A NEW North of England prestigious breeders' sale will be held at Clitheroe Auction Mart this weekend.
The Texel Sheep Society and Lawrie and Symington Auctioneers from Lanarkshire chose Clitheroe, above other markets in Lancashire, as the venue for the new sale, which will take place on Friday and Saturday.

With the sale already attracting more than 180 pedigree sheep, the auction mart is expecting customers from all over the country to attend. The Ribble Valley will also be well represented with farmers from Slaidburn, Whalley, Rathmell and Hellifield selling their sheep.

Initially the sale was introduced to help accommodate sheep buyers and sellers struggling with the restrictions on movements due to the Blue Tongue Disease – a problem all the farmers are having to face in the run up to the busy sheep sale season.
