THERE will be a Contemporary Textile and Mixed Media Art Exhibition by Threadmill in Brabin's Shop and Gallery (formerly Chipping Post Office Gallery) from today (Wednesday) to September 29th.
The gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day (closed 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays), there is no charge for admission.

Threadmill was formed in 1995 by a group of like-minded artists in the North West. The members have a wide range of backgrounds and qualifications but all share an enthusiasm for textiles and use this as their principal means of artistic expression.

The diversity and richness of materials draws the group to textiles to explore in a creative way. Hand-made papers, felt, recycled materials, metals, dyeing, printing and painting all feature strongly, as well as more traditional fabric and thread techniques.

The exhibition hopes to achieve the promotion of textiles as both a decorative and expressive art form and to increase awareness and education through workshops. Many of the members also teach art and design courses in schools and further education.
