CHILDREN from the Ribble Valley are being urged to start cooking!
Following our successful Junior Chef competition, Gisburn restaurant La Locanda is producing a healthy eating recipe book - written by and for children.

Competition winner Nicole Welch, of St Leonards CE Primary School, Langho's, Macaroni Cheese dish will be featured, along with recipes submitted by our runner-up, finalists and some of those who entered.

Restaurant owners Maurizio and Cinzia Bocchi were so impressed with the recipe ideas in the competition they have teamed up with the Clitheroe Advertiser & Times to produce the recipe book with all profits raised benefiting a local children's charity.

Schools have been encouraged to get their eight to 11-year-old pupils to send in recipes for the charity cook book which will be printed and available to buy for Christmas.

Along with an ingredients list, preparation and cooking details, we would also like the children to provide a colourful illustration of the finished dish. They can even send in a head and shoulders photo of themselves, too.

All entries should include the child's name, age, school, home address and contact telephone number. The deadline for entries is September 12th and entries should be sent to: Rachael Hunter, AKA PR,
High Corn Mill, Chapel Hill, Skipton, North Yorkshire BD23 1NL; or the Clitheroe Advertiser and Times, 3 King Street, Clitheroe BB7 2EW marked: "Junior Chef Recipes."
