RESIDENTS from Read and Simonstone are being asked to don their trainers and take part in a family fun run for charity.
The Read and Simonstone Run for Life 2008 will take place on Saturday, September 20th. Setting off from the Stork Hotel, in Whalley Road, Simonstone, at 11-30 a.m., the 2.7-mile route will take competitors through the two villages before returning to the pub.

Cash raised will go to Rainbows Children's Nursery, Barrowford, Macmillan Cancer Support and Lancashire and South Cumbria Kidney Patients' Association.

Families will get the chance to take part in a other activities including games, bouncy castles, slides and quizzes throughout the day.
The fun will carry on into the evening with a Cheesy Jeans Disco for adults at the Stork Hotel.

Organisers are also looking for volunteers to help. A meeting for those interested in becoming a volunteer will take place at the Stork Hotel at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
