MORE than 160 pictures of Downham, Twiston and the surrounding countryside will be on show in Downham Village Hall on May 3rd, 4th and 5th in the first "Art Around Downham" exhibition – many on loan from villagers and other lovers of the area.
A large number of the exhibits will be for sale and are by talented artists who work in and around the Ribble Valley, including Audrey Walker, Diane Chaffer, Madeline Adey, Gordon Wilkinson, Keith Melling, Duncan Armstrong, John Rickard, Diane Davies and Peter Taylor.

Lancashire Life artist Gordon Wilkinson will be painting in the hall and chatting to visitors on the Monday of the exhibition.

Also on show will be a collection of modern photos and historic postcards from Keith Hall's collection, as well as artwork by 54 children who attended Easter workshops with TV's Bizi Lizi.

Said organiser Tom McLean: "We've had a fantastic response from everyone locally and the event promises to be top quality and a really enjoyable show that will be of interest to both art lovers and local people. The children's workshops have been very successful and they have produced some great work, as well as having lots of fun."

The exhibition will be open from 11 a.m to 4 p.m on all three days. Adult admission is £2.50 and accompanied children free. "Art around Downham" has received a £500 grant from Ribble Valley Borough Council's Recreation and Cultural Grant Aid Scheme for 2008/9. For more information on the exhibition tel. Tom McLean on: 01200 445471.
