Teenage trombonist Edward Percival has become the latest member of The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain’s (NYBBGB).
Edward (16) is from Bolton-by-Bowland and is a Year 11 pupil at Giggleswick School, where he has been able to hone his playing skills.
He plays the tenor trombone and successfully auditioned to become a member of the UK’s leading brass band for teenagers and one of the world’s finest brass ensembles. The band exists alongside its sister band, the National Children’s Brass Band of Great Britain, to provide talented youngsters with opportunities to play brass music to the highest standard
Both bands are aimed not only at helping to develop their members’ playing, but also at improving their musicianship and musical horizons. The two bands hold intensive rehearsals during residential courses which each culminate in a series of prestigious concerts including the BBC Proms, the Snape Proms, the Great Northern Brass Festival and the gala concert for Brass in Concert.
Both bands are regularly led by leading guest conductors and tutored by some of Britain’s finest brass and percussion players.
