A mainstay of the Yorkshire jazz scene, the Kevin James Trio will entertain at the next monthly gig hosted by Ribble Valley Jaz and Blues Club.
Pianist and vocalist Kevin is joined on stage by bassist Tom Riviere, both men hailing from Leeds, and saxophonist Andy Wallis, from Huddersfield. Together they play a set of lively rhythm and blues, Broadway standards, Ellington, Monk, Brubeck, and more besides.
With his swinging, melodic piano style and vocal phrasing that has drawn comparison with Fred Astaire, Kevin James is proof that mainstream jazz can be unpredictable, even original, and his concerts are always peppered with interesting anecdotes about the tunes and their composers.
The gig takes place next Thursday, June 6th, at the club’s regular venue, the Atrium Café Bar at Clitheroe Castle, and starts at 8 pm. There is a licensed bar plus food and good parking. Tickets are £10 at the door with a £2 discount for members and half-price for students and under-16s.
The next club gig at The Atrium is on Thursday July 4th and features the One Way Street. For more details about the club and forthcoming gigs, visit: www.rvjazzandblues.co.uk
