Music Masters students to perform in Clitheroe

The Cataleya Quintet
The Cataleya Quintet

Clitheroe Concerts Society meets on Wednesday, March 5th, when the Cataleya Quintet will play woodwind music by Ibert, Nielson, Danzi and Poulenc.

The quintet was formed in 2011 at the Royal College of Music by five Masters students, all described as “outstanding RCM musicians”.

The players have diverse backgrounds, coming from the UK, Europe and the USA, but for one of them the Clitheroe concert is something of a homecoming. Bassoonist Sophie Robertson was born in this area and received her early musical training from Joan Hall, a committee member of Clitheroe Concerts Society. Sophie’s family live in Preston and she previously played with the Lancashire Youth Symphony Orchestra.

The concert will take place in Clitheroe Royal Grammar School Sixth Form Centre, York Street, commencing at 7-30pm. Tickets at £14 can be bought on the door or in advance from the Tourist Information Office at the Platform Gallery, or online at {http://|} For information ring 01200 423474.
