Musical duo Ian Millar and Dominic Spencer will perform at Gisburn Festival Hall as part of their innovative “Jazz in the Village” tour.
The saxophone and piano jazz duo have been performing together for a number of years, playing melodic improvisations on jazz standards and original compositions.
Based in Edinburgh, they have regularly and extensively toured Scotland and also embarked on many rural tours, often bringing jazz for the first time to remote communities, performing in intimate settings.
The beautiful Scottish scenery that they have seen on their travels has inspired the writing of many pieces of music by Ian.
More recently they have extended their tours to jazz clubs, villages, small theatres, and arts venues, venturing ever further south into England. Their exciting new endeavour – “Jazz in the Village” – will take them even further up and down the country playing in villages all over Britain.
Dominic said: “We have been very successful at transforming the village halls into an intimate cabaret style jazz club setting with low lighting and candles on the tables.”
Their concert at Gisburn Festival Hall takes place on Friday, August 9th, at 8 pm.
Tickets cost £8, which includes a pie and peas supper and a bar will be available, as well as tea and coffee. They can be bought in advance from the Delicious Deli in Main Street, Gisburn, or by phoning 07508 006537.
