CLITHEROE Pop Choir will take to the stage for its first theatre performance on Saturday, November 12th.
Its members will join top crooner Victor Michael and his orchestra in “The Loveliest Night of the Year” at the Thwaites Empire Theatre in Blackburn.
Victor Michael will perform the songs of Bocelli, The Three Tenors and tunes from the musicals, with backing on some of the numbers from the 60-strong choir.
Launched 18 months ago by Clitheroe singer and voice coach Susan Sykora. Clitheroe Pop Choir has gone from strength to strength.
Susan said: “The choir has performed at various public events throughout the year, including the Clitheroe Food Festival, but this is our first theatre performance. We are really looking forward to performing with a singer as talented as Victor Michael and it promises to be a fabulous show.”
Susan started singing professionally aged 14 and fronted the house band at the Ritz Hotel, Manchester, for many years. She is a prolific session singer responsible for numerous television and radio advertisements, and has performed in the popular duo, Glory, with her husband, Duncan Sykora.
The Clitheroe Pop Choir is aimed at teenagers and adults, and performs a combination of pop, rock, gospel and Motown, using a state-of-the-art sound system and high-quality backing tracks. The choir meets on Thursdays from 8-30 to 10 p.m. at the Oasis Room in St James’s Street, Clitheroe. More details of choir membership are available from Susan on 07561 531655.
