A TWO-DAY festival of fun, music and food and drink will take place in Sawley throughout the first weekend in September.
The village’s Summer Sundowner will provide family entertainment for all ages. All proceeds will go towards the upkeep of the village hall and children’s playground.
On Saturday, September 3rd, events will get under way with “Music in the Marquee”, in a tent over the village hall car park. Entertainment will be provided by local band “Compared to what”, plus Scotty the DJ.
The evening will start at 7-30 p.m., with a meat paella (vegetable alternative available), pudding and licenced bar in the Village Hall. And as well as a beer garden, there will be a bar in the village hall throughout the weekend and disco until 1 a.m. Tickets are £28 per person (£10 for under-21s). This includes an entry into the prize raffle.

The following day – Sunday, September 4th – there will be a Family Sunday event from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. People are invited to take their own picnic and enjoy the entertainment, provided by Eric Ainsworth Jazz Quartet.
Other highlights t include a bouncy castle for children, face painting and pottery painting.
Tickets for the Family Sunday are £5 per adult and admission for children is free, although there will be a small charge for children’s activities.
Organiser Mr Geoff Bolton said: “Last year we had tremendous support over the two days and all proceeds go towards the upkeep of the village hall and children’s playground.
“So, come along and enjoy yourselves. bring a picnic to enjoy the last of the summer in the village hall grounds and children’s playground.”
