Choir singers have plenty of good songs, but they are short of a gong.

The percussion instrument should be an essential part of the performance when Ribble Valley Choir and orchestra sing the piece “Holy Boy” by David Palmer during the “Joy to the World 2013” concert on Saturday December 14th.

“The music is set in the Holy Land and we need a gong for several of the items,” said Steuart Kellington, one of the organisers.

“We are looking for a gong about 2ft. or 60cm in diameter.

“We would like to borrow it for a week leading up to our concert. The music has lots of really good tunes and rhythms including a rock item.”

The concert, at Trinity Methodist Church, Parson Lane, Clitheroe, starting at 7-30 pm, is free to attend but a collection for Christian Aid will be taken.

It is under the auspices of Clitheroe Christians in Partnership, and all the churches in Clitheroe are involved.

The choir comes together occasionally for special events and was boosted to about 60 singers following a recent appeal in the Clitheroe Advertiser.

Anyone who has a gong they are able to lend can contact Mr Kellington on 01254 248855.
