Recent demand for an increase of live music events at Christ Church Chatburn has been met by a new season of Chatburn proms throughout the summer.
Music events over the past three years have earned a reputation of quality and the summer proms season is no exception. The bands appearing will be some of the best in the North of England and will be performing a wide variety of music for everyone. All events are inside the church in anticipation of the variable English summer weather. The church is one of the best kept and most attractive in the country and has the unique feature of being the first to be built in the reign of Queen Victoria. Being so old it is in need of upgrading and all proceeds from the live music events will go towards the Church Development Fund.
Anyone attending these summer prom concerts can enjoy a lazy Sunday afternoon in this beautiful church savouring glorious music in aid of preserving a Grad II Listed Building. Organiser Clive Greenwood thanks Shackletons Home and Garden and Hudson’s Ices, both of Chatburn, for their sponsorship.
The first concert is at 2 pm this Sunday, June 16th, by the Eagley Band and this is followed on Sunday July 14th by the Farnworth and Walkden Band. Tickets are £6 including light refreshment and can be obtained from Roy Porter Butchers or calling 01200 441624 or 01254 384893. The ever popular Last Night of the Chatburn Proms is on Friday September 13th at 7-30 pm, performed by the world famous Besses O’ Th Barn Brass Band with special guest soprano Grace O Malley. Recent events have sold out so please obtain tickets in advance.
