As part of World Book Day pupils from Bolton-by-Bowland CE Primary School dressed up as their favourite Roald Dahl character.

They included characters from “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, “Fantastic Mr Fox”, “Matilda”, “The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me” to name but a few.

World Book Day is an annual event to celebrate books and reading. The children held a World Book Day assembly and read extracts from their favourite books.

Head teacher Mrs Stansfield said: “This is a popular event at Bolton-by-Bowland. The children love to share their reading experiences with the rest of the school. We are especially proud of all the hard work parents have put into helping their children make the costumes. The children receive a fortnightly visit from the library van service and have visited Clitheroe Library just this week. All children have reading packets and storybook bags and parents help by listening to their children read as part of homework. It was a fun day for all children and staff took part by dressing up as Miss Trunchbull!’
