There was plenty of knitting, but not much nattering at Oakhill College’s new Knit and Natter Club.

Mrs Riley, a devotee of knitting, hardly had the chance to complete a row of her own knitting, instead showing pupils at the Whalley school how to cast on.

Some pupils managed to get the hang of it while others opted for weaving bracelets and eating banana cake provided by Olivia Bentley.

A spokeswoman said: “It was lovely to see so much concentration and determination. There were plenty of smiles too.”

Watch this space for future Oakhill crafty creations.”
