shopkeeper Jacqueline Wadge reckons her window has extra sparkle thanks to expert designer Katie Longshaw-Pye.
Jacqueline won the free makeover after a public vote in Clitheroe’s popular shop window contest, which aims to boost retailers in the town by encouraging the kind of imaginative displays favoured by TV’s ‘Queen of Shops’ Mary Portas.
The display in blue, white and hot pink complements the colours of Jacqueline’s shop, Jwl Contemporary Jewellery, in Wellgate.
Jacqueline had previously made her own display which attracted the winning votes, but admits her own work was was outshone by Lancashire lass Katie, who works for the top store Harrods in London.
She said: “Katie had some great ideas that I never would have thought of, and now I can tell people my window display was done by someone from Harrods.”
The shop window project is part of a scheme funded by Ribble Valley Borough Council and Creativity Works, and supported by Clitheroe Chamber of Trade. It was launched last year offering shopkeepers free masterclasses in window display.
